යාත்RAA (Yathra)

11th & 22nd July 2026

යාත்RAA, meaning "journey," was a two-day interfaith and community service initiative. On Day One, 17 members visited four places of worship across Colombo — Kathiresan Kovil (Hindu), the Red Mosque (Islam), Siri Vajiraramaya (Buddhist), and St. Mary's Church, Bambalapitiya (Christian) — respectfully taking part in each faith's customs, prayers, and blessings. On Day Two, the club extended that spirit of unity into direct community service, visiting CFS Prithipura Home and donating LKR 10,000 to support their care for approximately 250 children and adults with disabilities.

This formal event celebrated the induction of the new President and Board of Directors for 2024-25, aiming to transition club leadership, celebrate past achievements, and inspire continued service. Highlights included lighting the oil lamp, speeches from dignitaries, the Secretary's report, and collaring. Meticulous planning, effective PR via Instagram and TikTok, and post-event networking helped reinforce the spirit of leadership, unity, and professionalism within the club.

34th Rotaract District Assembly

An all-island event filled with leadership speeches, award ceremonies, and networking opportunities, held to install the new District Steering Committee and unify Rotaract clubs. It served as a cornerstone for motivating clubs across RID 3220, featuring 60+ participating clubs. Robust planning, a vibrant PR campaign, and post-event engagement led to long-term collaboration and unity among clubs.

Port City Family Cricket Tournament

October 12, 2024

A casual and lively tournament with music, snacks, and a trophy for the winning team, organised to strengthen bonds between Rotaract, Rotary, and Interact members. Organised collaboratively by the Port City family, it created lasting memories and inspired future joint projects. Highlighted as a strong fellowship event, though future iterations would benefit from an outdoor venue.

Port City Lycans (T-shirt Initiative)

A merchandise project where custom T-shirts were designed and sold to members, aiming to raise funds and promote club identity. This boosted unity and visibility, and generated LKR 3,900 in profit for future service initiatives. It also set the foundation for recurring fundraising through club branding.

Port City Sports League - Phase 1

An indoor cricket match with the Alumni of the University of Moratuwa Rotaract club, this project aimed to build inter-club friendships through sports. It encouraged teamwork, inclusivity, and event management, helping launch an annual tradition of sports-centred bonding and leadership development in a fun, energetic setting.

Port City Sports League - Phase 2

The second PSCL event, played with Rotaract IIT, aimed to continue fostering relationships through friendly competition. It reinforced collaboration, stress relief, and leadership, improving inter-club ties and promoting wellness while maintaining continuity for the league. Broader participation and better PR were noted as ways to elevate its impact further.

WAVES (Fellowship Trip)

A multi-day visit to Trincomalee featuring cultural exchange, sightseeing, and networking, aimed at deepening fellowship with the Rotaract Club of Trincomalee. The trip strengthened inter-club relationships and laid the groundwork for joint future projects, with members engaging in shared experiences that fostered unity - though more diverse activities and earlier promotion could boost engagement further.

Mohamed Salman, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP Sathma Jayasinghe, and representatives from various clubs - a testament to the unity and dedication within the Rotaract community.
