Behind Community Service for 2026–27 are two personalities difficult to miss and even harder to forget: Rtr. Akshayaa Palraj and Rtr. Senuka Karunaratne, united by an ability to connect with people wherever they go.
Introducing Rtr. Akshayaa Palraj
Some voices are simply difficult to ignore, and Akshayaa’s happens to be one of them. A former radio jockey and host with a natural command of the microphone, speaking and expressing herself have always come naturally to her. But that confidence extends far beyond the airwaves. Independent, ambitious, and never afraid to stand by her own opinion, Akshayaa is someone who knows what she believes in and rarely follows the crowd simply because everyone else is heading that way. Between running her own business, working towards the many goals she has set for herself, and putting genuine effort into her academics, she carries a drive that is difficult to miss. Yet behind all that determination is an incredibly caring person who loves deeply, protects the trust people place in her, and gives back tenfold to those who genuinely show up for her.
Beyond the Airwaves
- Give her a presentation or assignment and she’ll happily disappear into a corner for hours until it is done, probably while overthinking at least seventeen different details along the way.
- Traditional fits and Jimikis are firmly within her territory, accompanied by frequent reports of a “bad hair day” that witnesses have yet to independently verify.
Introducing Rtr. Senuka Karunaratne
Walk into a room with Senuka and there’s a good chance introductions won’t be necessary. Somewhere between being a Computer Science student, working as an IT intern, and maintaining a social circle that appears to have no geographical limits, he has somehow mastered the art of knowing someone almost everywhere he goes. With a great sense of humour and an easy-going personality, conversation comes naturally to him. But behind the man-about-town reputation is someone who works incredibly hard, takes on far more than people probably realise, and remains one of those genuinely good people his friends know they can rely on.
When the crowd clears
- He’ll hear the same breakup story 100 times and still listen patiently, with surprisingly good advice ready by the end.
- Behind the “sugar daddy” allegations is a genuinely generous friend who looks out for his people and shows up when it matters.
One commands the airwaves, while the other seems to know everyone in the room. But beyond the voice, the crowds, and the seemingly unlimited social reach are two people who genuinely show up for those around them. With Akshayaa’s determination and caring nature alongside Senuka’s easy-going personality and dependable presence, this duo brings plenty of personality to the term ahead.
